Synchrotron-radiation study of the electronic structure of fcc Mn thin films grown on a GaAs(001) surface.

چکیده
The epitaxial growth of metastable fcc Mn thin films on a GaAs(001) surface has been achieved at a substrate temperature of 400 K. The development of the fcc Mn thin films as a function of coverage is studied by photoemission with synchrotron radiation. The electronic density of states below the Fermi edge of the bulk fcc Mn phase is measured experimentally. A significant difference of the electronic structures is observed between the metastable fcc Mn phase and the thermodynamically stable a-Mn phase. Possible mechanisms are proposed to account for the experimental result.

Substrate Effects on the Structural Properties of Thin Films of Lead Sulfide
Nanocrystalline PbS thin films are deposited on glass and alumina substratesthrough the chemical bath deposition technique by creating similar conditions, in orderto investigate the effects of the substrate. The structural and optical properties of PbSfilms are investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and UV–Vis.The structural analyses of the films indicate that they are...
متن کاملImportance of the Surface Electronic Structure in Heteroepitaxy
Thin Au and Pd films were deposited on a Nb(001) surface covered with a monolayer (ML) of the respective metal and on a S-terminated Nb. Although these ML’s have the same lateral periodicity as the substrate, the films grown on them have a different structure. Films deposited on the metalterminated Nb surface have a structure determined by the geometric misfit between substrate and deposit (Au ...
متن کاملAtmospheric oxygen in Mn doped GaAs/GaAs(0 0 1) thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy
Mn doped GaAs thin films were grown using molecular beam epitaxy at high and low substrate temperatures. The elemental concentration depth profiles in the thin films were determined by using Auger electron spectroscopy combined with ion etching. The Mn concentration is higher near the surface and then decreases with depth for films grown at high substrate temperatures. The Mn concentration prof...

Molybdenum oxide (α-MoO)thin films were prepared on quartz and silicon substrates by thermal oxidation of Mo thin films deposited using DC magnetron sputtering method. The influence of thermal oxidation times ranging from 60-240 min on the structural and morphological properties of the preparedfilms was investigated using X-ray diffraction, Atomic force microscopy and Fourier transform infrared...
متن کاملمطالعه ساختاری لایه های نازک PZT/YBCO به وسیله XRD و AES
Thin films of superconductor YBaCuO(YBCO) and Pb(ZrTi)O(PZT) is grown by laser ablation technique to make an electronic device. The quality and the structure of the films is studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). A quantitative analysis of the films is also deduced from AES study. Analysis of the films show that the YBCO is grown in (001) and PZT in (10...
